    I do not recommend this company the nurse at the hospital was pushy and then we decided to go with them should have gone with my gut. Complete nightmare from the time we got my dad home.

    I brought my father home to pass away. His family Dr. set everything up with Vitas for us. The introduction was great. After that things kind of went down hill. All of our nurses and CNA's and Chaplin were incredible!!! That said , Supplies did not come when they were supposed to. I went and purchased some things for my father myself because they were not provided to the nurses. Just after 2 days under hospice care my father became imminent. On several nights we would not have a nurse... this meant that we (the family) were left to stay up around the clock and administer these hard drugs to our dying family member (my dad). Thankfully, my Aunt (a CNA) was here to help us (my mom, my sister, my husband and myself) was here. So, that meant that she had to be her brother's nurse / caregiver when there was not a nurse here and she was not able to grieve or morn the loss of her brother properly. One Vitas employee told us that there were 27 imminent patients and only 7 night nurses. This is just unacceptable. Stop taking on new patients if you do not have the nurses to care for them. By leaving them without a nurse (because we did not know day to day if we were going to be given a nurse) you are actually making the already difficult process even more stressful for the family. I was / am so disappointed in this company. I had heard so many good things about them but was left with such disappointment.

    Vitas saved my Mother in many ways. She had no quality of life and thru their care, she gained 2.5 years of life. Vitas worked with me to help her life partner understand my Mother's needs. Vitas provided home care, social workers, chaplians and counseling for my Mother and family. Palliative care allows people to keep their dignity through the end of life process. I am grateful for Vitas Team 191 Orlando FL. Thank You.
