As soon as you walk in you feel like you already know everyone and that's such a good feeling. We were a new client and had adopted a little dog so our first visit was FREE!! You can't beat that. Really enjoyed the knowledgeable staff and Dr. Harrison was a sweetheart.

We recently moved to Palm Beach County from Broward County. We have 4 dogs, and have seen 2 vets and 1 specialist and I have to tell you none of them treated us with the respect that Dr. Pam Wood treated us with at VCA Wellington Animal Hospital. She took the time to ask me questions and try to understand what I want from the visit as well as evaluate my dog and tell me her educated opinion and treatment options. She spoke to me like she knew me all my life and she got on the floor with my dog during the exam and calmed her down during the uncomfortable parts of the exam. She is what I refer to in our house as the Dog Whisperer with the human touch. I love her and I will be bringing all my dogs here to her! I highly recommend her to anyone that wants a vet with a heart that isn't trying to upsell you on every product in the world....she ROCKS!

I would not recommend that anyone take their pet there unless you want them to suffer. They don't listen to what they are told and even when you question what they are doing they don't stop to take what you are saying into account. I went into their office a couple of days ago with a sick kitten. She was unable to use the bathroom. They looked at the kitten, felt her stomach was full of poop and decided to give her an enema. I questioned whether that was the right move without examining her because all of my life I have heard that when someone can't produce a bowel movement the last thing you want to do are laxatives and enemas without knowing the cause of the problem because you can make it worse. I mentioned that the kitten was born with a birth defect in her paws and that I was concerned that she might have other defects. I also mentioned that I didn't think it would be a good idea to give an enema without knowing what was going on first. I was told that it was a risk worth taking because leaving her like that was guaranteed death. Anyway, I left the kitten, went to the hospital with my sick mother, and received a call that the kitten was too full of poop, they didn't know what to do because since administering the enema she was in pain and discomfort and only letting out little drops of poop at a time. She said that when she tried to stick a cathater needle in to get the poop out she felt a pop and there was some blood so she thought she had punctured the kitten's intestines and took x-rays to make sure that she hadn't. Mind you, she took these x-rays without calling to get my permission so that I could authorize the x-rays and additional charge because SHE did something that cause bleeding and a pop, but then *I* had to pay for them even though I never consented to them and it was something she did to make sure she hadn't perforated the intestine. I feel like if she did something wrong she should have covered the cost. Also, why not suggest the x-rays BEFORE giving my cat the enema, finding out the CAUSE of the back up, which is what I wanted instead of forcing an enema into a body that wasn't working properly to release bowel movements to begin with? This added unnecessary stress to my kitten. I then went and picked the kitten up to rush her to the specialists on Forest Hill Blvd. At the time I didn't give them a piece of my mind or contest the charges for the things I hadn't authorized because my kitten was SCREAMING IN PAIN, which she hadn't been earlier, and my only thought was taking her to the specialists to try and save her life. The car ride was hell with this poor kitten screaming in pain. It broke my heart. She hadn't shown any discomfort before the enema even though she had been sick. I get her to the Specialist clinic and they immediately had to take her in the back and give her pain medication just to make her comfortable because she was in so much pain. The vet then examined her and realized that the cause of the problem was that the kitten had an opening in her rectum the size of the tip of a pen and that was why poop wasn't coming out. The only way we would have been able to save her would have been to do a surgery to reroute her intestines and create a new 'rectum', and at her age and size, the prognosis wasn't good and I had to put her down. What kills me is knowing that if Dr. Wood had examined my kitten BEFORE giving her an enema, which any vet is supposed to thoroughly examine before prescribing treatment, she would have seen that my cat did not have an opening big enough to release a bowel movement and we could have made the decision to humanely euthanize then instead of putting an enema into a little body that was unable to poop and causing that poor kitten HOURS of pain before her death (not to mention the cost of the treatment, when she didn't even perform a thorough examination). I would not wish the pain that poor little animal went through on anyone, and it hurts to know that it could have been avoided. Do not take your pets there.
