The food is amazing! The alcapurria was delicious, and the beef empanada is the best I have had in a long while! Both fried to order and tasted so fresh. My husband had the rice with gandules, pernil, yuca and maduros. They offered cuerito, which was crunchy to perfection! Of course I had to taste it all. The owners are also super nice. Many other choices in the menu we could not eat this time so we'll be back soon.

We took out last night - Friday 2/10/23. First time here and definitely will not be the last. I have been all over Latin America the food at Lechonera El Barrio was not only great but enough for another meal today.

What a great find! First time here, but it won't be the last time. Warm, friendly greeting and we were served by the owner Enrique. Food was delicious, fresh and flavorful. I eat yuca a lot. This was by far the best I've had. Seasoned perfectly. Will be coming back for the yuca frita! Portions were great, senior discount was nice too! Thank you for a great meal!

I recently came here for lunch with a few business associates and I gotta tell you I had a little déjà vu although the name has changed the exterior is exactly the same, the interior is exactly the same, it seems to be the same staff and I was told the same owner, the food is still served cafeteria style with the same latin influence and still delicious - I even had the same meal I had before although this was my first visit here (white rice, black beans and roasted pork with hot salsa) - I'm very confused but not disappointed since I received a "review of the day" from this somewhat bizarro world restaurant so I'm going with my original review. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone but I'll be back...ROTD 5/13/2020 (Chofán Island Grille)It's funny how a location that has housed a number of failed restaurants creates a stigma for those of us that live or work in the area so when Chofán Island Grille first opened I was a skeptic - after repeatedly seeing my work associates frequent this place for lunch my curiosity got the best of me and I had to give it a try. My first and only experience to date has been a single lunch visit for takeout - after a busy morning and short on time I decided to drop in get something to go and return to the office to enjoy it. One look at the steam table I had a bit of a culture overload. Chofán is the Dominican Republic's version of Chinese fried rice by definition as an example so there's no doubt the homemade offerings are as diverse as you'll find in the area.I love spicy food but admittedly I tend to stick to the basics when it's comes to trying a new restaurant - the friendly staff here guided me through the process. It's really pretty simple, start on the far left side of the counter to view the selections they'll answer any questions but its really self explanatory you point they scoop it into the segregated containers. Today I tried the white rice covered in tender delicious black beans, pulled roasted pork and to avoid some of the more traditional sides I'm not too familiar with I chose the pasta salad. The portions here are very generous and the price for lunch is amazingly reasonable especially for home style cooking of this quality. The staff is so accommodating here and the food is so delicious, I'm sure this restaurant will replace some of my regular lunchtime options. There is also a nice selection of hot sauces by the pop dispenser so kick it to whatever level you can handle, you won't be disappointed here...
