Royal Shell Vacations

From the moment we walked into the house on Captiva Island, it was apparent how poorly Royal Shell had mismanaged it. They did not provide enough of the necessities, particularly we were only provided with a few toiletries, for a party of 16. The house was poorly cleaned and a sink faucet in one of the bathrooms came loose upon first use. On the night of July 6th, we got quite a bit of rain from Elsa. I and a couple family members were sleeping in a bedroom detached away from the rest of the house. We all woke up around 4 am and realized that the entire room was filled with a couple of inches of water. We had to quickly gather all our belongings, and trudge through the almost knee-deep water to get to the main part of the house. Upon our arrival, we found the lower level of the house also under inches of water. It was a great effort for everyone to get brings all their bags and items upstairs. Because we were 16 people, losing the lower level of the house severely affected the rest of our stay. Not only did we have to avoid the area, but we also had to crowd in the dry rooms. For the next 4 nights (more than half of our stay), we had to sleep on the floor. Royal Shell had told us that they would provide mattresses, but we never got them. Sleeping on the floor resulted in very poor sleep and back pain. From this point onwards, it was no longer a vacation anymore. Naturally, we requested a proportionate refund from Royal Shell, however, they only gave us a small one. We later contacted Royal Shell to get a larger refund and were told that they would get back to us. A week passed, and we did not hear back from them. We reached out again and they said the same thing. It's now been two weeks and we have heard nothing. I am appalled at how unprofessional Royal Shell is, and will never make the mistake of booking a property with them ever again.

Poor Communications, Rigid Rules, No cooperation Royal Shell is very confused, emails go on for days, weeks and places get booked that you are communicating or trying to communicate about - Sanibel / Captiva Island bookings. There’s NO movement with dates to book homes, Sat to Sat.that would be fine. Looking for 10 - 12 day days in beach home, that was completely open for the entire month!!! We are to leave in 4 days. I was able to book through SSR. We have used Dream Vacations and San cap Vaca, who are more in touch with owners than sales reps at Royal Shell, who said, she doesn’t speak to the home owners, “that’s the owner relations agent.” WHAT, can you make a phone call, this house is going to be empty for the next 3 weeks......lol the right hand doesn’t speak to the left! For stress free, easy bookings, along with better pricing, go direct to SSR. RS is the most expensive, about same price as SSR & no amenities, needs wants, etc., a few great kinder options now on island as well to rent at SSR.
