The Nature Conservancy Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve (Garden of Eden trail)

What a surprise to find this pretty trail. We enjoyed the uphill climbs and descents, not typical of mostly flat Florida. Beautiful open views over the Appalachicola River, and lush vegetation along the mostly narrow trail. We took our time on the trail, making it a nice 3-hour hike. Note: The trail was very lush and full, not trimmed back much, so wear long pants, even tucked into your socks, due to chiggers.

This trail is not for the out-of-shape...unless you're trying to get IN SHAPE! I'm half & half and it about whooped me. Especially coming back towards the parking area Seriously though, the view at the river was completely worth it! Pictures do not do it justice. If you're not in shape, don't do the River Loop, just come back the way you came. It would have been much easier in my opinion. Yellow flies were AWFUL in mid-June so be prepared!
