Very disappointed. We took our boat in for service 6 weeks ahead of family vacation. I picked the boat up days before leaving and headed to the West Coast, no time for a test run. We got down there put the boat in the water and it wouldn't idle, it ran horribly and left us adrift because once it died it was very difficult to start again. Very hard to load, launch and run in an idle zone when it won't idle. 5 day fishing trip pretty much ruined. I stressed that we were going on vacation and I wanted it right. We couldn't use the boat and had to borrow one from my brother's friend to fish one day. I paid $1,600+ to get it done right and my check cleared, I did my part. So I took it back after vacation and they had 10 more days. The trim tab anode they replaced for me originally that fell off during vacation the first day wasn't replaced, Rick said he couldn't get the part. Nothing in US warehouses, nothing coming in from Japan. That may be very true, they are a dealer and buy direct. I went online today and ordered an OEM piece from an marine store in Colorado, they had at least 5 in stock. I'll have it Wednesday. I'll replace and adjust it myself, plenty of good videos on YouTube. We took the boat out Sunday after picking it up on Saturday after the second repair attempt by Astor Marine. The motor is still running terrible. It stalled twice while setting the anchor, had a dead spot on acceleration, throttle response is terrible, and it' starts hard. So... 1) This is a Pontoon boat sales and service center, that's what they are really good at, especially sales. 2) They are very nice people, I like them. Very poor customer communication, I had to call repeatedly, some calls were never returned when they said they would. They were short mechanics because of Covid 19, maybe this is why we had so many issues, too much work and too little time. 3) This is a well respected family owned business, and Covid 19 may be a big part of all that happened to us. I don't know. It's just really a shame, I thought I had found a good shop based on all the reviews and I suppose if you have a pontoon boat you'll be in good hands. I'm pretty handy with mechanics and my shop is finished now. I work on all my vehicles, tractors and equipment myself and I'm confident I can learn these too. Give them a try; like I said they are really nice folks, and will happily sell you a pontoon boat! I for one won't be going back, unless I intend to buy a pontoon boat sometime down the road. I'll post and update on the motor after we diagnose and fix it ourselves. Update 7-27-2020 Well my brothers and I got together and decided to take a run at fixing the boat ourselves. This is what we found. 1) Only 2 of the 4 spark plugs we new, which is fine; but they charged me for 4. The spark plugs were all gapped too narrow we couldn't even get the feeler gauge in between. 2) all 4 carburetor mixture screws were out of adjustment, one was way out. 3) The carbs weren't properly synchronized. 4) The idle needed adjustment, it was set way too low 5) compression was good and even across the 4 cylinders 6) We found one of the thermostat housings was leaking water, we'll have to order the gasket and fix that. After we got the motor to a point it would at least run, we seafoamed it following the procedures used by mechanics on youtube. We then fine tuned the motor and it Idles and runs out perfectly! We put it in Lake Dias and went for a ride. We are now very happy with the way the motor runs. I feel like they owe me 4 hours labor (the time it took us to fix it properly), the price for 2 spark plugs, the price of the trim tab anode we replaced, plus tax. The total: $416.92. The other repairs they did seem satisfactory at this point, time will tell.
