        My first visit to the center was a couple of years ago to see their fabulous netsuke exhibit. The exhibit space is small, but the exhibits are usually interesting. The current exhibit, Animals in Japanese Outsider Art, is a joyous, colorful exhibit meant to be seen in tandem with the current National Gallery exhibit of Animals in Japanese Art. The outsiders who have created the artwork are people with intellectual disabilities or mental illness. Next time I go I'll make sure I have time to read all the artists' bios. The center has free lectures and films which are usually in the evening. Check out the restrooms. Heated toilet seats, cleansing jets of water and an air dryer. What will they think of next?
