(+) Food was great - heavy and French. Escargots cooked perfectly. Food service timing impeccable.
(-) had to ask twice for the bill, I hate that. Small selection of by-the-glass wine.
Ambience was fabulous - country French. Will definitely go back.

La Chaumière should not even be located in such an amazing and welcoming city because it revokes all customer service ethics, norms, and policies. The restaurant environment is trying to recreate the rural vibe of French culture yet the owner/host is not customer-oriented and lacks professionalism. The staff holds higher standards than the owner. The bartender is friendly despite being bossed around, the servers seemed careful as if their lives depended on the rendered services, and the runners displayed dissatisfaction while on the job (as if the tasks assigned to them were punishments) yet did not stop smiling.
The dishes are average (for the time it takes to be served and the award the restaurant holds) yet the Grand Marnier is not as satisfying as it is advertised. The space is overly crowded with tables and décor and runs on regulars who probably return to the restaurant for the sake of the staff.
Désolé pour France for such a disappointing representation of the French traditions.
Any business is nothing without its customers. Above all treating others with dignity and respect is a must to maintain a proper employer-employee-customer relationship.
