My husband and I met with DNR Forester Dave on December 3, 2021. We showed him around our off-grid homesite and discussed our plans for the property. We even persuaded him to climb up to the top of our barn and go out on the widows walk to see the spectacular views from 30' up. Dave told us when to pick our hazel nuts so we can get to them before the worms do.
All in all a pleasant visit.
When we originally asked for a visit from the DNR through Wood Camp it was to walk through a wooded 40 acre parcel we thought needed some attention. However we sold that property in June so there was not much for Dave to see while he was here.

Not everyone can afford 10 acres but would like to improve the timber we have. Disappointed you only larger properties!

The DNR personal that came and walked our property were very knowledgable. They provided lots of information that day when they walked our woods with us. Beyond what they shared as we walked they also gave us paper copies of information we would need in making decisions going forward. We were also emailed copies of this information. It included contact information going forward of people we could contact depending on what we decided to do next. Wonderful experience, professional yet very friendly. Highly recommend.

Woodscamp and the site visit they arranged with the Longleaf Alliance forester have been most helpful in discussing our family's management plan for our timberland. We learned a lot about what we need to do in order to move forward with our goals and what resources are available to help accomplish them. Our forester was super knowledgeable and the time was well spent with her. We appreciate the service!
