First I'd like to start off by saying that she did a phenomenal job with the actual surgery (Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy) itself. However my daughter was ONE at the time of surgery. I was recommended by my daughter pediatrician who use to work at Children's hospital so trusted her judgement. However, I was very much so disappoint in the care after my child's surgery was performed. As i stated my daughter who is now two had some difficulty after her procedure. A week after being discharged my daughter developed a fever was in a lot of pain after her surgery. Aside from her fever she wasn't urinating very much, she would not drink and she was Lethargic for about 4 days straight, no matter how much she was sleeping. I contacted children's and asked for Dr. Bauman to be paged because of my growing concern of my daughter's health. She called back the next day at about 11pm. By this time my daughter was slightly improving by the time she called however she started to decline. After two visit to the ER, between 4 or 5 bags of IV fluids, IV Antibiotics, Ultrasounds, Catheters, multiple medication and being transported back to children's hospital for observation Dr. Bauman NEVER followed up with my to make sure my daughter was ok. She ended up being severely dehydrated after surgery. After surgery a post-op appointment was made however later converted to a Virtual Appointment without my approval or knowledge or even a simple phone call to make sure it was ok. AGAIN MY CHILD IS TWO... would you think she would see my daughter in clinic being as though we dealt with some post surgical complications. On the day of my daughter "Virtual POST-OP appointment" I waited over 40mins for her to come to the monitor and she never came. I finally called into the facility to find out what was going on and was told I could have an appt with the PA and Dr. Bauman would join in. I was disappointed in the fact that no one thought to reach out the patient who was sitting starring at her computer screen for close to an hour, inconvenienced because I took unpaid leave for my daughter's appointment and even after expressing my frustration she NEVER called to check on us or to even apologize for the unprofessionalism that occurred. She was over a half hour late for our consultation, our surgery time was pushed back over two hours (which means my child went a very long time without being able to eat or drink while we waited for surgery) and never called for our post-op. I am highly upset with the way we were treated, especially when dealing with a TODDLER. totally unacceptable.
