Wells Fargo Advisors are without a doubt the worst brokerage out there. I tried in vain for over 10 years to make things work with them before moving all my assets to TDAmeritrade. I have been through multiple advisors without success. They have consistently had me in the market when I should have been out and vice versa. They never get back to you when they should and when they do, they have nothing valuable to offer. I would have made more money in a savings account over the time I have dealt with them. They also try to push managed accounts on to you but when you question them about the performance and fees as compared to a passive investment strategy, they are not up to the challenge of defending their position. Stay away from these guys. Its not worth the frustration.

If I could give this a half star I would. Do not try to invest with these people. There are hidden termination fees and fees within transactions. If you try to move your money they will make it very difficult. They will not even answer in a timely response to emails around finance 101 questions that you could read in any off the shelf finance book. DO NOT trust your money here. I'm referring specifically the 1133 Connecticut Ave address although after this experience I'm even pulling all my checking/savings from this bank (Forbes lists WF as 85th out of 100 banks in the US).

In 2013 I opened an Beneficiary IRA Account with Daniel Clarke as my advisor. In the three years I had it under him, my IRA actually decreased substantially from advising account fees, bad market management and seriously, I was never advised on anything. I received incorrect information on my account, no updates on any distribution laws and now my sister and I are facing additional tax penalties which were totally preventable, yet our advisor neglected to address or update us about. After 5 years of death, an IRA account has to be distributed to the beneficiaries, lump summed out if yearly distributions had not been made. We opened the account to roll over our moms IRA to save on tax penalties and slowly grow for our own retirement. Lump sum gets taxed at a high percentage, but can be reinvested or rolled over to a faster investment strategy. Now, if we had done this initially, we would have been able to invest it in a million better market strategies. Instead, the accounts have stagnated, and decreased below the initial investment. This banker is neglectful, disrespectful, and horrible at communication. As a result of his mismanagement and morally questionable judgement my family's financial security has suffered. Do not trust this banker with your money, no matter how small the investment, he takes his cut without any growth to your account.
