I hired Jose to complete multiple jobs during the month of August. He ripped out an old basement floor and put a small concrete pad around the front and rear of my home to prevent water from leaking in the basement which he did quickly and efficiently. He painted the basement but did not complete the half bath in which he was to replace tile, put in a new vanity and and paint. He also did not put in a folding door to conceal the washer dryer after several failed attempts. Only one side of the door is installed and when I realized he couldn't complete it, he made no efforts to remove the half he had already installed. He left many areas of trim unfinished and did not do other tasks to completion such as setting a threshold that was cut for the bathroom doorway, painting over areas of the wall that were coated in white paint when he did the ceiling, etc. I purchased the home which I was previously renting, and he agreed to sand and stain the floors, paint the house as well as several other small repairs for 8,600. He had quoted me 2500 to put up a new pressure treated wood fence. I gave him a check for $12,000 and that's where the work came to a halt. He stopped communicating and has made no efforts to rectify the situation in over a month. The floors are already scratched and don't seem to have had a proper coat of polyurethane finish on them. While the work was fair at best I simply wanted him to stick to the agreement and complete the wood fence and carpet on the basement stairs which he assured he would do. I have been extremely patient but will have to take legal action at this point if I'm to ever recover the money and complete the work. I was very disappointed by what I thought initially was a promising contractor as I have had so much trouble finding reliable help. I definitely would not recommend.
