Wendy and Kevin are very experienced at setting up their aquariums. My mother was in assisted living, declining over time with dementia. It came to the point where the evenings were the worst for her as she couldn't turn on the TV, or if was controlled for her, she no longer could follow the plot or conversations. She was very busy in the daytime with activities of the facility and family kept her busy, also. But the evenings she could be found confused, roaming, lonely. When I took her to pet stores for treats for my dog, Mom always visited all the beautiful animals there. She became enthralled watching the fish, in particular the glo-fish.
She talked to them, pointed to the little "babies" and we would stay watching for some time. We wanted to get her a tank but knew that daily feeding, possible overfeeding, access to the water, were all too many problems too easily without a constant watch on the tank. My sister found Crystal Clean Aquariums, and they said we could contract for a monthly fee to visit the tank, clean it, change the water, check the equipment, replenish fish if needed, and refill the monthly auto feeder. They have a sealed top so Mom could not "play" in the tank. We surprised Mom with it, and she absolutely loved her tank and fish. She didn't have to turn on the tank to watch the action. It was always happening in front of her, occupying her thoughts and vision and feelings with color ,calming swimming, lights and affection for the fish. Timers were set up for the lights, so even in the evenings she could always watch her fish. She talked to them, showed anyone who came to her room, and always thought there was a new fish born every day - even though there wasn't. But she never ceased to be overjoyed by it. We lost Mom a couple months ago. The tank has been moved by Crystal Clean Aquariums and is taken care of by one of Mom's grandchildren now. But I will never forget how patient, kind and understanding Wendy and Kevin were with our family and especially Mom. They understand how soothing a good tank can be, especially for the elderly. And they repeated the answers to Mom's questions probably hundreds of times, always kindly. The monthly fee for service was reasonable considering that many other activities come to a halt as elderly problems grow. I would recommend this company to anyone, especially for an elderly loved one in their own home or in assisted living. Thank you Wendy and Kevin, most sincerely. The family of Rose Marie Correia
