Dog Lane Café

A very cool place just bordering UConn campus. Great food, lots of variety, including local beer and homemade drinks. Also desserts and coffee bar. All food made from scratch. Two of us got yummy half sandwiches and cup of soup/chowder . And an artisan grilled cheese. My problem in a place like this is that everything looks great . Service was fabulous. The place was hopping because yesterday ( Saturday) was UConn accepted students day. Its seat-yourself; we only waited a couple of minutes at peak lunch time to get a table (give us time to look at the expensive menu and specials). Their friendly staff delivers food, checked in with us, ,and bused the tables. Seems like a quick turnover place, but I did not feel rushed. Overall excellent place for food and drink and a fun vibe. Would definitely return, and if my kid goes to UConn, looking forward to doing it soon!

My daughter and I ate here for breakfast on a Saturday. I love all the food options as well as the fancy coffee/matcha/tea offerings. The staff was friendly and patient as I read the enormous menu of options. It was priced well too. We ate near the fish tank, which was quite relaxing. They give you a number on a stick and bring you your food when it's ready. I would definitely eat here again!

As a Uconn student, I often go to the Dog Lane Cafe as they have a great menu and food. Staff is usually friendly until today when an older gentleman (assuming the manager/owner?) came up and rudely asked us how long we planned on staying. We had been working on some assignments for probably an hour-ish and had ordered food which we had eaten and drinks which we were still drinking. Overall spent probably $30, and as paying customers, we were under the impression that we should be allowed to sit in the cafe as we were still drinking our drinks (that we paid for!). We were there early since we knew it gets busy and wanted to secure a table. There was no reason for him to have to ask us specifically to leave, and with the tone that he did. Their slogan is "Come. Sit. Stay." but it should be "Come. Sit for two seconds because you will be kicked out as soon as there isn't food on your table".
