Count the cost ... My family came to The Red Roof Inn in Enfield, CT the second week of February 2024 and stayed for about 3 weeks while tending to business. This is our second time staying here. Listen, we have learned that cost can't be the only factor when comparing travel accommodations. I am about intelligent details so for those who want more than just 1-5 stars or complaints that raises questions like "If it was so bad, why did you stay so long?" I hope this helps you consider coming to see for yourself like we did. Here are a few things that we appreciate about this location: SAFETY & EMPATHY: Rick, the owner, sometimes says, "...making things good for everyone" as he busily tends to his duties checking guests in and out, dashing from one end of the premises to another, and directing contractors. Additionally, I have been in the reception area as Rick has assisted guests extending their stay because they are in-between housing of their own. From what I have seen he does not make them feel out of place or discuss their situation with other guests. That is honorable. Rick further demonstrates how serious he and the rest of management are about "making things good for everyone" in the overall upkeep of the property and vigilance about what happens on the premises beyond just filling the rooms for the sake of making money. If you like trouble & foolishness, this isn't the hotel environment for you. The rapport with the local police department appears to be very good here. I've seen officers (same canine units) drive THROUGH the hotel property during routine patrols of the surrounding business area. I personally appreciate that. The external lighting at sunset is very good. Ladies, allowing common sense & situational awareness to prevail, I did not hesitate to bring my dog out after dark when necessary. CLEANLINESS & TEAMWORK: The pride & confidence Rick has in the efficiency of the support staff (such as grounds, maintenance & housekeeping) is evident. I primarily interacted with Ms. Vilma in housekeeping when I needed anything for the room in-between the daily service schedule they follow. In my experience Ms. Vilma and her team are professionally respectful, organized and thorough. You won't find these women just standing around idle. Laundry is also consistently done even on weekends. There is a phone system to maintain communication within that crew as well as with the desk staff & management no matter where they are on the premises. The rules regarding pets (read the information carefully at check in) factors into cleanliness of room and on the grounds which is good for the animals' well-being as most good pet owners know. AREA RECOGNITION & RESPECT: Apparently, the officials that sponsor the dog shows in the region respect how this location is managed. A recent dog show held the first weekend of March issued a flier that was displayed in the reception area warning guests participating in the show that if there was any reported misconduct on their part during their stay at Enfield's Red Roof Inn that they would lose AKC Privileges (Google it - I sure did). Keep in mind some folks travel across several states with their pets for those events and not many hotels in CT allow dogs bigger than a pineapple -if at all- on a reservation. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION: Look, you have a pet store, grocery store, restaurants, and retail stores, etc. within walking distance (literally, right across the front parking lot, the side street, and the main road). If you have a vehicle, the Enfield area is your oyster plus the state of Massachusetts. Google them! I'll pause there for now (see my previous review from our first stay on Trip Advisor). Spend wisely & pay attention to who you do business with because you always get what you pay for. Rooms: Read what I shared here and on Trip Advisor.
