As a patron of the old Governor's Tavern, we expected to receive good service and good food. We received neither. From the waitress that we saw once to the poor food, we were extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, we will not return unless major changes take place.

This place just reopened under new management in the Fall 2014, so you can ignore any of the old reviews. I had high hopes for this place when it reopened - considering East Hampton has few choices of dining selection this place had a window of opportunity to capitalize on that. Sadly the new owner has failed miserably. Tom P is right in accenting my experiences as well. The food quality is sub-par, the wait staff are truly disorganized as I've seen them struggle to be attentive even during slow times, and worst of all the kitchen staff are some of the slowest darned cooks I HAVE EVER WITNESSED. And I mean the kitchen is CONSISTENTLY slow... I've been to this place about 6 times since it reopened and all 6 times it took way too long to get my food. And to top it off the food isn't even worth the wait!!! It is now a family joke that "they must be out killing the meat fresh right now" it takes so long. Ridiculous. Word spreads fast in this town and the New Governor's Tavern is already becoming a laughing stock. What a shame. Former Governor William O'Neill is probably turning in his grave as we speak...
