I was told by my primary care physician that I have Lyme disease and therefore I needed to see an infectious disease doctor. I researched and found Dr. Kim. I read some of her reviews and I liked what I read. My doctor sent a referral, along with my information. I received a phone call from Dr. Kim’s office and was told that I couldn’t be seen because my primary care doctor was not apart of St. Vincent’s. I confirmed with my doctor that they indeed do belong to St.Vincent’s. The receptionist put me on hold and when she returned she said that my doctor had to belong to a “certain kind of MSG” ( Which is the group that both practices belong to). I asked exactly what did that mean. The receptionist began to stutter and put me on hold again. She returns once again and said that Dr. Kim reviewed my chart and said that I had to be a “certain type of patient and needed to see another doctor, which I’ll call Dr. I. I asked if this had to do with the fact that I have the state health insurance. She again begins to stutter and says no that’s not it. I feel like I did not receive an adequate explanation. I would love to know what certain type of patient I need to be in order to be seen! My primary care doctor’s office knows nothing about having to be “certain types of MSG offices or patients.” I feel discriminated against. I would have given her a zero if I had the option. I see other specialists within group and I’m going to share this info and I will share this with as many people as I possibly can because it wasn’t right.
