I understand addiction which I would never had called it, having experienced overwhelming, life altering, depressive chronic pain for 20 years from the many conditions I experience that is life altering. For 20 years I believed that taking pain medication that escalated to opioids, was my only relief as told to me by my doctors! Until the day I had enough. I realized I didn't get any relief from them anymore so I stopped listening to these doctors and decided a year ago to just stop taking them. I found Dr McMillan, at Colorado Recovery Specialists who were known as Colorado Pain Clinic, is the most caring, understanding, and non-judgemental, recovery doctor who is truly interested in me and my situation, took as much time with me as needed, and knew what I was facing. Not many people in my situation have the balls to seek out someone like him nor do doctors that dole out these pain pills tell you about such doctors. With my mind made up and with his help, support and encouragement, I haven't taken a single pain pill from that day forward. I'm still in pain on a daily basis, and ibuprofen is now my drug of choice. It's no different then when I took opioids for relief. But now I'm free from their toxic effects. I'm so glad God and the guidance of my dad who passed to the next dimension, gave me the smarts to realize what was happening to my body as a result of them, and the wisdom and strength to do what I did, successfully. Family and friends judged me and ostracized me as a result of my situation. But they to abuse substances and don't believe they are, don't know how much they impact us who love them despite their addiction. We continue to love them and worry about them in silence. If someone won't accept that they even have an addiction, the functioning alcoholic, there is no help for them until they recognize it, accept it, self reflect on it and take action about it. I wish they'd know and trust that from our point of view, it wasn't their initial choice, no fault, or weakness, and there is no blame or judgement for it. There is nothing more we desperately want for them but recovery. But in silence for fear of being ostracized from them, which is what happened in my case, we can't do anything but want it for them. It takes a mountain of strength and self reflection to start the process of acceptance and recovery. It's a very scary thing to face. The ball is in their court and no matter how much you want them to get better, we continue to suffer in silence for them. I just wish that people I love would realize how their overuse of alcohol is damaging their bodies, and seek out a doctor like Dr McMillan who are few and far between, but we can do nothing about it. Please take an inventory of your life and remember the days of freedom you had without their dependence.

I truly like my doctor. Dr McMillan is kind, understanding, and he takes the time to listen to me, without the feeling of being rushed. He is always pleasant with me. I can go on and on about how amazing Dr McMillan is. They have a great staff, DawnMarie (NCMA) always goes the extra mile for you. She's very sweet, compassionate, and a excellent communicator, she always returns my calls. We all have so many different opinions about things, you'll have some that loved it, and some that hates it. It's like everything else in this world, you have to find/try it out for yourself.

I had been with CPR since 2013. I to ended up with the most amazing doctor. Tanya Johnson. Thank god when she moved to private practice, I went with her. She's amazing! Addiction and CP specialist who cares dearly for her patients. CPR got rid of her and Amanda. I don't recommend this place . I feel they are scamming insurance companies now. So sorry for they patients that were left to deal with CPR! P.S. Thank you Dr.Tanya Johnson
