Have you ever been given a sales pitch by someone who was so persuasive and repetitive and convincing that any thoughts which popped into your head to the contrary were quickly drowned out by the spirited presentation, right in your face? Complete with props, free goodies, and surrounded by a group of other enthusiasts, and sanctioned by God’s design, you are swept up in the miracle of the moment! I have felt this at a Baptist revival meeting, with a car salesman on the crowded inventory lot, being lathered with an amazing wrinkle cream at the mall, on the phone with a new internet service provider, at a time-share opportunity freebie, on the beach in the Caribbean by the jewelry ladies….. But NEVER by a health care provider. After the group presentation with the song and dance routine, complete with a lesson in how to read an X-ray (we were now proficient in recognizing the damage in our own scans), and a dramatic “tossing” of the bag of prescription drugs which we would all soon be free to do, thanks to the regimen we were about to receive, we were taken one by one to have a personal consultation and be shown our pricing scenario (no, we cannot have a copy). All it would take is a time commitment (3 visits a week), a financial commitment (yearly payment, monthly payment, or financed payments available for thousands), the names and contact information of all our family members - who would be contacted and also surely want treatment. We would be given a huge discount for more family members who signed up. And the treatment would most likely take months, the improvement (no matter what your condition) would be measurable by follow-up x-rays. This is a big scam.. you do not need to be adjusted 70+ times a year to achieve proper spine heath and you do not need to drop thousands of dollars!!! I have been under chiropractic care my entire life, and along the way I have been educated by some fantastic (and moral) chiropractics. I am appalled. Having been to numerous health care providers for many years, I have to say this is the first time I have ever seen such a charade!!!
