        After booking, my father in-law was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 pancreatic cancer. My wife needed to be with him so I had to cancel the trip and be with our kids. After calling the hotel 2 days ahead of checking-in, I was told there was nothing they could do, and zero dollars would get refunded. To not offer a partial reimbursement under these conditions is horrific.

        UPDATE: Hilton resolved this to my liking. An electrical breaker tripped in our room within an hour of checkin, spoke with front desk staff, and called them a couple times, and no one was able to do anything (just needed to reset the breaker switch). I had to track down maintenance/housekeeping the next morning and within seconds of doing so power to the room was restored. Nothing like paying $400/night for an unusable room. Wont be back. Diamond Hilton member.
