I should have read the reviews and asked to be referred somewhere else. I cannot believe the way they treat people. I took a SIBO test, rested positive, was prescribed Xifaxan to take 3 times a day for 14 days with no other follow-up or anything. I messaged and called multiple times. Dr. Eileen Quillin refused to address this matter herself on the portal even after several attempts. She kept forwarding me to a nurse, who was less than helpful and rude. A week and a half she argued with me. I guess the Banner Health mission is not followed by staff.
Banner Health is deeply committed to our mission: To make a difference in people's lives through excellent patient care.
This is what she said to me:

As mentioned previously we contacted Magellan through the portal and NO PROBIOTICS ARE COVERED. We also contacted the pharmacy and spoke with them to confirm this was correct. They stated there are no alternatives available; which means it doesn't matter who the manufacturer is. I called the number you provided and spoke with Pam she spent 20 minutes going through the covered medications list and the OTC medication list and again there are NO PROBIOTICS covered regardless of a prior authorization. If it's not covered I can't request a prior authorization. I have provided a copy of the OTC product list that I found online. (this is below). It is not the responsibility of clinical staff or providers to be aware of what insurance companies will cover the cost of; especially OTC medications."
I didn't even know I was supposed to take a probiotic I am the one who had to follow-up with the office since they never got in touch with me after the result before perscribing anything. She never mentioned contacting Magellan and was just the worst nurse I've ever had.

I have been to Banner GI for a few years. PA Cassetta was very kind and took time to explain things, even tried to set me up with GI psych care.? I have had every GI test, EGD, Bravo, motility, and others I do not remember. I have endured GERD for more years I can count. I have been on PPI's since early
2000's. I understand that long term use is not recommended due to malabsorption and a few other things. I have been given so many other meds that I can't even remember. There are times the exacerbations are so painful I end up in ER thinking I'm having another heart attack. Short story long, they know I have a hiatal hernia ( not big enough to do anything), also my teeth are bad due to acid erosion, I have horrible chest pain and nausea after I eat or drink (they determined my LES was not working properly)! All of this has been to no avail. I'm losing weight too fast, and stricture in my esophagus is equally painful! Called just recently to get an appointment because I am miserable. They can get me in with another person the end of April. They had told me that the insurance dictates that I have all these tests before any other intervention is allowed. Now they want me to get another test before I can see the Dr. In the interim I must suffer with the pain and everything else debilitating which interferes with everyday life. So there you have it! Any suggestions, I am out of things I need to do. Oh yeah, I called insurance and they informed me I do not have to have all the tests in the world before they treat. Maybe it's time to jump ship. What are my options? I understand the grass isn't always greener on the other side but what is there to do?
