Stanley Hotel

Went for the tour yesterday. Gotta say it was fun and interesting. We were told to take multiple pictures and came across something. Help me debunk it or is it real ??????

Outstanding views, amazing atmosphere, super friendly staff. Travis dropped tons of spooky unique knowledge on my wife and I during our Shining tour. Excited to come back soon!

We stopped over at The Stanley to check out the Stephen King lore regarding his book, "The Shining." The hotel is magnificent, grandiose even. And its history is amazing. Turns out my grandparents were somewhat involved as my grandfather was stationed at Estes Park with the National Park Service back in the 1930s, and my grandmother became friends with Flora Stanley before the latter passed away. I knew nothing about the connection until we had already left Colorado! Now, the history about Stephen King and "The Shining" is cool. King stayed at the hotel for one night which during he had a horrible nightmare. So freaked out, the place left an indelible impression on the writer . . . The rest is literary history. No, "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson and directed by Stanley (the irony) Kubrick was not filmed there, but the miniseries was and Stephen King paid for the main hotel's entrance area renovation for that filming. We took a tour where we learned ALL of this and so much more, and it was worth every moment.
