When I first moved to Durango I was looking for ways to meet people. The Rock Lounge was having an adult Conditioning class and I joined on a whim - I am SO glad I did! It is a small gym at the moment, but the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. There are classes for adults and kids, morning workouts to help you build strength, and outdoor clinics to help you take your skills further. Routes are changing with enough frequency to keep things interesting. Marcus Garcia does an excellent job of working with you no matter your age or ability. The Rock Lounge is a lot more than "just a gym" - it's an awesome community within Durango that you should definitely be part of!

While I'll throw them a couple stars for being the only gym in town, its exactly that. The gym feels like someone's garage training cave, low awkwardly designed walls, dated holds, and setting that feels like the middle school climbing team put up the routes. Compared to other gyms on the western slope like Grand Valley Climbing in GJ or Monkeyhouse in Carbondale, it just feels unprofessional. I'd imagine a town like Durango could easily support a much nicer space, and based on my conversations in town, many people would throw down for a membership if the product were a bit better. Hope they step it up, I'd happily get a membership

The staff arent exactly polite, Ive bever been greeted at this place nor said bye too as leaving which isnt a major deal but still weird their staff cant say hi or welcome or bye. They also have some kind of kids camp but rather than have employees watch the kids they allow the kids to run around unsupervised throughout the day. They scream and run all over the gym while the employees sit up front not greeting paying guests. Not exactly sure what the employees actually do. Weird place.. I like the routes though. Just hard to climb around the unsupervised kids running under you.
