Dr. Tessler helped me tremendously. After having gone through a very traumatic couple of years in which my twins were both diagnosed as severely special needs and my mom was diagnosed with cancer and passed away, I was a mess emotionally and mentally. I felt like I could barely function day to day. I felt incredibly inadequate to deal with the task life had given me in helping my children, especially with my biggest cheerleader (my mom) gone. Out of desperation I found Fight or Flight Therapy and am thankful I did. The testing is like nothing I've done before as is the treatment. Like another reviewer said, I wondered if I was doing it "right". However, after a couple months I started seeing improvements and after a few more I could hardly recognize the person I used to be. That frightened, insecure woman who constantly second guessed herself had become someone with more confidence and the ability to be productive and decisive. I feel like I can be the mom my children deserve now and that is because of Dr. Tessler and his treatment. I'm so glad I found him.

I had a consultation earlier in 2018 with Dr. Tessler and didn't not do the Fight or Flight Therapy treatment. I first heard about the therapy on Meetup, was sent a message about the therapy, and I began looking up Everything I could on the subject. I read thread upon thread on websites about traumatic brain injuries, people that traveled across the country looking for help, articles about Dr. Tessler, testimonials, etc. I felt like I had plateaued in my PTSD recovery and so I set up a consultation. A week before the evaluation appointment I emailed Stuart to let him know that I wasn't in a financial position to begin therapy and I wanted to cancel my consultation until I could afford it. He assured me he worked with people and we could find a payment plan so I could start the therapy immediately. The day of the consultation I arrived at his home with my questionnaire printed out. One of the first things he said to me upon meeting was how much paper I had wasted because my computer wasn't able to format it correctly. I was embarrassed, found his remark insensitive, and felt like we weren't off to a comfortable start. We began the test, a sort of eye exam with colored dots and graph paper. He moved the dots around and I was instructed to tell him when I saw the color change. I would give my answer and he would reply "are you sure?" move the dot a little and ask "isn't this more different? Or this?" No dramatic color change was happening so sometimes I said "yeah" or "maybe a little" and he would record where on the graph the color changed for me. Then he gave me my results- I was in BAD shape. I needed the most advanced (and expensive) level of Fight or Flight Therapy. At this point he showed me some case studies and I learned that during the color change exam "I don't see a change" was an acceptable answer, an option I would have picked if I knew there wasn't some magic change I was supposed to be seeing. He didn't tell me "no color change" was possible before testing me, before I beat myself up looking for the colors to change. No change in color meant there wasn't horrible trauma to my nervous system.. instead each time he asked "isn't this more different??" and I agreed I was making my results more severe. I'm not a scientist but I do know that there is no way to get a proper test result by double checking with people, suggesting a different answer, and interfering as he did. At this point Dr. Tessler presented the treatment package. It was several thousand dollars. I told him, like I said in the email, I didn't have that money available. He told me he needed a large deposit to begin and to call him when I had that. Then he took my check for the $175 consultation and sent me on my way. I left feeling upset, duped out of $175 with no possibility of moving forward had I wanted to, and unclear what my results would have been if there hadn't been such examiner bias.
