I have had the pleasure of referring individuals and families to Dr. Bette Sheldon Long over the last 20 years. She is incredibly competent, professional and compassionate in her role as a psychologist. My clients rave about the role Bette has played in their healing. She is excellent in helping with divorce recovery, child development, parent consultation, trauma and loss. Bette is highly respected in the community by her peers and other professionals. No surprise, her schedule is often full so it might take awhile to get in with her. I always feel 100% confident that when I refer my clients to Dr. Sheldon Long that they will receive excellent treatment.

I made the mistake of hiring Bette Sheldon Long. She hurt our family with her unconscious and divisive behavior!!!! She gets too intimate with her patients and the side of the family she chooses to align with (mine in this case) which creates more conflict. She missed the mark big time with my son and didn’t help him at a time when he really needed help. He would go to her (went for more than a year) every week but couldn’t figure out why he needed to go because Amber said she wasn’t helping him. He was right. She wasn’t doing a damn thing. She’s just awful in high conflict. She baited me into protecting her from the conflict only to stab me in the back later, pretending she didn’t ask me to have certain boundaries for her. She made the conflict SO MUCH WORSE. I heard the same thing from a friend whose kids also went to her. She made everything so unbareable for them that they fired her. She is not astute about complex psychological dynamics and is rather a wishy washy feel good therapist who does no good. Don’t fall for it like I did. Although I am now the only parent legally responsible for my child, at the time I was trying to protect him from a harmful father. Bette’s behavior contributed to allowing him to continue with a pattern of stalking me (he was later charged with felony stalking) and using my son to commit his crimes. It was extremely damaging for all of us and I will never forget Bette’s role. She needs to stop trying to be a therapist. She does more harm than good.

I've gone to various types of therapy. Her style is by far the most effective I've ever experienced. I would certainly recommend her.
