Terrible service! They charge by the mile and drove my mother 30 miles out of the way - adding nearly an hour to her transport between the hospital and physical rehab center. The ambulance was in very poor condition, and they just strapped the wheelchair in the back "cargo" space - a metal echo-chamber. My mother was completely rattled when she arrived at the rehab facility. The driver was rude and denied that they are paid by the mile, but the invoice shows that they are paid by the mile. The ride was booked by the hospital and was supposed to be covered by insurance, but AMR billed my mother directly and then bullied her for a payment of $460 - saying the wheelchair rental wasn't covered by insurance. We have our own wheelchair and would have provided it if they had been forthcoming. What a scam!

Their payment system is opaque and set up to make you lose. I applied for their "Compassionate Care" program, but my bill got sent to a collection agency 5 business days after a rejection letter. What they don't tell you is that the application process doesn't put the payment timetable on hold. Crooks, if you ask me. I'll risk my next trip in a Lyft
