This is not a 5-star facility. I give it 5 stars nonetheless for sheer effort. Like all of these "skilled nursing facilities" Upland Rehabilitation is understaffed and underfunded. But what we found, during the entire 3 weeks that my mother was a resident due to a stroke, was a staff full of people who genuinely cared about the wellbeing of the residents. Every single physical therapist, CNA, LVN, housekeeper, and support staff we encountered was kind, and quick to offer assistance when needed. The food was also better than expected. The rehabilitation was effective. And the real testament to how well cared-for my mother felt was manifested when, after 2 weeks, I offered to take her home and care for her. She felt she wasn't quite ready, and chose to stay another week. Considering that when the 2 other times she has had to be in other care facilities she couldn't get out fast enough, and begged us to "break her out" after 1 day, that is really saying something! Kudos to the entire staff at Upland Rehabilitation. You really do an amazing job and we are so very appreciative of the kindness you showed our mother.
