Paid about $8k to do upper and lower level flooring in a condo that's about 1500 sq ft, but now only 4 months some of the panels (waterproof / scratch proof manmade one's that looks like wood) have bumps rising upstairs, the stairs had to be fixed at least three times, and separation between two panels on the first floor. Props for sending the right person to fix it, he seems to have more experience than the people who installed it. After talking to some other contractors, this kind of flooring is susceptible to expanding when the weather gets hot and there's no way around it. Luckily, the one who came to fix it got lucky and hammered the bump down with a rubber hammer & it worked. He glued the separation on the first floor and hopefully will hold for a long time. I don't know how it normally works for contractors, but I would prefer some sort of guarantee in writing at the time of the sale to lean back on in case something like this happens so that I have peace of mind. I just went off a friend's referral and didn't even get a 2nd quote so in retrospect that's my bad. Hopefully I didn't just get lucky that they came back to fix it and that they do this for all their customers
