The place had a charming ambiance, but it was a tad too authentic for our tastes. Almost everything, including the chips, was cooked in lard! Fortunately, we inquired and discovered that most of the food was prepared using this ingredient, leaving us with limited choices. We couldn't even enjoy the chips and salsa. Nonetheless, our server was incredibly helpful, guiding us toward options that didn't contain lard, although even many of the sauces did.

Honestly, this is the best Carne Asada burrito I have ever had. I've lived in the San Diego area for over 30 years. Yes, there are places I have not gone. With that being said. Fidel's is a MUST!!

I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Been here a few times over the last year, I should have left a review sooner. Some of the best Mexican food Ive ever had in my life.

Great old mexican food restaurant. Their hot sauce and chips to start off is great. I usually get their Shreaded Chicken Chimichanga for dinner. It is really tasty. It comes with rice and beans. I've also had their Cheese Enchiladas dinner, and it is also very tasty. Their waiters are very kind and helpful. My nephew always looks forward to my visits because he knows we're gonna be eating at Fidel's. Parking: There is a decent amount of parking for the restaurant. If you visit during the busiest hours, you may have to parking on the street nearby.
