My first experience at Zazu was great, so we decided to return for New Years Eve...and it was a huge let down. My boyfriend made the reservations and no where did it mention the set dinner prices for NYE (Granted, we know that is at a lot of places on NYE and we may have missed that, so we decided that was on us and stayed anyways). We were immediately seated and our drink orders were taken, and shortly after we placed our food orders for the whole night. Drinks came quickly, but we waited an hour and a half to receive our basket of bread and first appetizer. My boyfriend, canceled his second appetizer at this point...and our waitress was sweet and you could tell she was overwhelmed, but we felt completely snubbed by paying a fortune for this meal and having the kitchen take all night to serve us oysters and bread. We ultimately got our desserts to go, and found a brownie I could have made myself in our boxes. In all honesty, the food tasted great, but the service was terrible and we got stuck with a 20% gratuity so we couldn’t even express that in our tip. The least they could have done was comp our drinks for the evening considering we waited all night for everything!! I hope Zazu reads their reviews because I think this place has potential but is currently a hot mess.

We went with high expectations, the portions were very small and lacked flavor. Got 2 sips of wine for $15.00, apparently, thats the standard pour. The service sucked, the others I was with had to wait 10 minutes while I was already served, the waitress was very rude and rolled her eyes at me when she found out I hadn't yet tried my meal because I was waiting for my poor friend's to be served their meal. We even had to pay for our bread, and on top of it all, they hit us up with a 20%, forced gratuity... we would not recommend eating here, we will not be back.

The check was presented and without mentioning the 20 percent tip added to the tab. Calculating the items ordered with the 20% on top then they added 8.875% tax to the entire amount, including tip, was a complete turn off. The dining area was cold and drafty. The food was tasty and was appealing to the eye. No food outside the dish such as bread and butter as one would have expected with the price of the entrees...altogether it proved to be a dissatisfying meal...
