I figured out the problem: Galpin Subaru is actually now closed. I think it's now a Porsche dealer (See attached screenshot) so the mechanics, who probably got wind of this a while ago stopped "bothering" to change the oil and any other "non-essential" service items which wouldn't immediately be missed. I've been checking my Subaru Tribeca like clockwork and it never seems to burn any oil. For it to get 5.75 qts. empty they must have last checked\changed the oil in about 2014. Thanks Subaru for keeping an eye on these dealerships. ........................ Wow, when I wrote this original review (below) two years ago seems to be about the same time these guys actually changed or checked the oil in our Subaru Tribeca. I have had four visits to this dealer this year (2018) for stuff like a leaking fuel cap, idler belt, full service etc., and it would seem that nobody actually checks the oil during the multi-point inspection. It's been in the shop a LOT. Did nobody think to check the oil? Yeah, yeah, I know it's the customer's obligation to (according to Subaru), check it every other fill-up) but how many people do YOU know who checks their car's oil regularly any more? And at every other gas fill-up?? To save time my suspicion is that they (the mechanics) just tick off the box on the paperwork - after all, who's gonna know? Either that or it used 5.5 quarts of oil in one month. Burning a lot, leaking? -- There are NO drip spots in my garage and no smokey pipes. My advice is to check your own oil and check it while still at the dealer to make sure they actually did do something. How did I find out? I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car so, on a road trip I visited Firestone (who were great). The oil level was so low the guys at Firestone were amazed it hadn't seized up. Beware and be forewarned. I used to check the oil regularly but over the years, because it never seemed to need any, lost the habit. So it seems did the @Subaru mechanics at Galpin Subaru. Previous review: Great local dealer, service level is high. Some hiccups with car never being Quite ready when it's done (having to wait too long for them to bring around the vehicle) but that's a minor quibble given the high level of service here.
