We booked an escape room at Off The Couch one day, and ended up doing 3 more within the weekend because we enjoyed them so much! They put a lot of work into designing the room themes and storylines, in addition to creating great puzzles that are challenging and creative. One thing that differentiates them from others at the moment is that they charge per hour, without a set time limit (of course scheduling and booking may affect that, but in general). In other words, if you want a million clues and are done in 10 minutes, or if you want no clues and you take two hours, well, that's up to you to chose your experience, and they'll charge you based on your time. Even the people giving you the clues are in character, by the way! If you haven't been here yet, you MUST go do Pandorum. Its a 3 part experience (which we did over several days), and is truly a revolutionary escape room experience. We spent a lot of time talking to the owner, Nick. He's a smart, cool guy who really loves what he does! Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

I came here with my friends for a little escape from covid. When we first arrived inside, it looks like a dimly lit office space where people gathered to play table top games. I guess I'm used to a little bit more of a production when first coming to an escape room. I think some sort of partition might help if they want the building to also function as a meeting place. The atmosphere was decent once you're in the escape room. They definitely create a feeling of intrigue. I enjoyed the majority of the puzzles and each reveal was fairly satisfying. They were challenging but not impossible. And it was nice to be able to just call the host out loud for any clues. I will say there was one that I felt was way too nuanced. After we were finished the host said this is one that people get stuck on a lot. I think they should reevaluate what it is people get stuck on about this particular puzzle. I think it's less about figuring out the solution and more about how ambiguous the mechanics are. Also I don't know how they clean up but I slipped big time and I'm sure the host had a good laugh on the other side of the mic. Turns out there was a piece of rounded plastic from something on the floor. I picked it up and put it on top of one of the puzzles. I would say that could have been much worse if I had slipped closer to one of the set pieces. Overall I would say this experience was really fun but I think it needs some work. The entrance was a bit of a letdown. The puzzles were fine except for that particular one. Also maybe more lights in that one room so you could make sure there's nothing for people to slip on when you clean up.
