King Me

Called to make an appointment. Someone answered, "Hello?" like they were surprised their phone was ringing. No indication they were "King Me" was given - just "Hello". Subsequently, they didn't bother to ensure to turn up the volume on their own phone - they couldn't hear me so they simply hung up. I called back, and was sent to voicemail. I left a polite message asking for a callback, to schedule an appointment. So far, no call back has occurred. ...At this point I would rate them 0 stars, if that was an option. That's simply not how business is done.

This is a new nail salon/spa location in San José designed to cater to the male market. The newly designed interior looks high quality, nice style, and features (the outside of the building would never make you think quality is inside… don’t judge a book by its cover). I received a 30 minute basic massage there and walked away feeling good. Sunny, my masseuse, was nice and friendly, but when I asked basic questions if she was a CMT there were communication issues (non-native speaker), and no posted certificates/licenses. As someone who has had massages before I was surprised she jumped right in instead of asking if there are any injuries, etc. She did ask if I wanted any areas focused on which was nice. I can’t say I was fully relaxed during the experience due to noises dogs barking outside and firetrucks going past (massage parlors should have more than average insulation) , loud walking in the neighboring business, and the clanking of the metal warmer they were using for hot towels, but the most frustrating was the TV in the waiting room that I could hear. I guess a TV with sports on might hit most audiences while waiting, but not during the massage. The business’ name was a little surprising (“King Me” can be a somewhat in appropriate slang term … just google it and you’ll find out). Pros: Ample parking, friendly staff, flexible with scheduling. Cons: Noise during massage. The business name. I’d say it’s worth giving a try and seeing if it’s for you. They've just recently opened and are trying to find a niche in the busy massage/spa market.

Horrible first impression. I booked my appointment a month in advance for a morning appointment and when I received their text message reminder the day before my appointment time was set to a time that 1) I was not able to make originally due to other conflicts and 2) a time I did not request. Throughout the day I constantly gave them a call, and no one answered the phone. I then decided to reply back to their text message, where I was finally able to get a message back stating that they did not know who booked my appointment and that it was blocked off for a bachelor party, when I originally I booked it was clearly open. I also was promised a call back from management, it has already been 3 days and I still have not received this call. I will definitely not try this place out.
