It is a cozy place, except it could get a bit packed at times. Nice conversation otherwise.

This place is way cool. There are nights when several of the only females left in the bay area come here. It's a pirate's find! It's like going to see a birth at the zoo for an almost extinct animal or bird. The local flavor is way mellow and plus the service is top notch! Pool tables, darts, and no broken hearts. No one was on there cell phone!

This is a great little bar/pool hall on Bascom a couple of blocks away from the Pruneyard shopping center. It's easy to miss if you don't know it is there, so make sure you have your maps going and your eyes peeled! The parking lot is not large, but it is also not very busy (or at least it wasn't when I went). I was able to find a spot towards the back (there is a auto shop back there but it doesn't look like there is any designated parking areas for any of the stores. The entrance to The Escape is in front, right off the sidewalk on Bascom. It's a basic bar with beer and liquors; I did not check to see if they had wine. The interior is dimly lit, cozy, and relatively clean. I went in for a beer, and was pretty satisfied with what they had on tap. And, bonus! The taps were clean, which is a big thing for me because I can always taste when they aren't. I got my beer right away, ordered some chips to go with it, and munched and drank while I watched TV. It was so relaxing after the day that I'd had. I'd recommend this little spot to anyone who likes the feel of a straightforward bar without all the fanciness of some of the newer swanky joints. Don't get me wrong, I like farmhouse tables and succulents just as much as the next girl but there are just some times when you want an old-fashioned bar atmosphere, amiright? Bottom line: stop in to The Escape for a cold beer, drink or a snack if you happen to be driving by.
