Marlowe Burger

This review is solely based on brunch. The burger and fried chicken sandwich here unfortunately just didn't live up to the hype. The burger patty was thin and at medium rare, not particularly juicy or flavorful. The fried chicken sandwich also wasn't as crispy on the outside and as tender on the inside as a place like this (i.e., with this level of hype and this price point) should deliver. Was also disappointed that the bun tasted a bit cold and stale - lightly buttered toasted buns should be mandated with all fried chicken sandwiches. The upsides though - Marlowe is able to accommodate reservations for large groups for brunch, a rarity in SF. The ambience (bright lighting, open space, rustic décor, white tiled walls) and service (attentive, accommodating, and didn't rush us despite being a very large group during prime brunch time) are great.

The burger? Pretty good. The chicken sandwich? OMG. The frieds? Fantastic. The house-made ginger beer? Spicy. and delicious. Too bad they stopped making it.
