Good food with terrible service. Half the table got their food after 5 minutes, the rest had to wait another half hour. Best part was that the bill included a 20% tip, so why try to improve the service. Stay away!

This is probably one of rare places in SF I left the restaurant feeling ripped off and displeased. My husband and I were there for our anniversary and we figured it was a perfect spot as we were looking to book nearby in presidio where we dropped our kid for sleepover so we can enjoy date night . We were excited to try this place as this placed looked promising on reviews . However we were totally fooled. We ordered chicken poblano with mole sauce for an entree and multiple appetizers, soups. As you can see in the first pic I posted, the entree came with two tiny pieces of chicken and one scoop of rice , the chicken tasted like rubber and sauce tasted like chocolate with salsa . We couldnt believe we were served the portion of kid meal size . Perhaps they wanted us to experience the portion of Michelin star restaurants , however, the quality of foods was beyond sub par . My husband and I left the restaurant empty stomach and empty wallet on that night and also confirming that upscaled Mexican restaurant is almost always a trap .

Colibri is a Mexican bistro right close by the sea. It's a beautiful place for a hot meal in their outside court. The sun can fall into your eyes and start toasting you, so stick to those covered tables if possible. Keep in mind that although it's upscale, it is traditional and sticks with its roots. Not the kind of traditional that someone from the South is used to. Really great quality food. The spice was a big wake-up call for me. The drinks are fun (they put one of their cocktails in a peacock glass!) and they make sharing easy.

The food was pretty good, but the portions were tiny. I ordered a shrimp with Mol and a corn cake. It would be generous to call that an appetizer portion, for $30. six small shrimp and a corn muffin That was it

Colibri Mexican Bistro in San Francisco's Presidio makes the freshest, most delicious guacamole I have ever had. Their fish tacos are amazing. Every dish I have had here has been beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Great service too. March 2024 update: I visited Colibri Mexican Bistro on a busy Saturday afternoon. Alas, my guest and I experienced slow service. We had to ask for water, getting our table cleared, etc. The wait staff was nice, but perhaps overwhelmed. The food was good, but the tortilla soup was not as good as my friend remembered. I liked my butter salad's complex flavors. The guacamole was as good as ever!
