Approximately two years ago, after more than thirty years working in California, I began the lengthy process of moving back to the U.K. for my retirement. During this often challenging period it has been my great good fortune to have the support of my realtor, Francesco Papalia.
While Francesco’s professionalism and expertise have been everything I could have hoped for, I have been particularly impressed by his flexibility and resourcefulness in adapting to my changing needs as I juggled my job in this country with house-hunting trips to the U.K. and preparing my condominium here in Albany for sale. Drawing on his extensive experience and local knowledge and contacts, he has given me invaluable advice concerning suitable renovations, introduced me to contractors and generally made the whole daunting process very much easier.
Francesco has been equally helpful with matters perhaps less frequently encountered by Bay Area realtors. When the time came to arrange shipment of my belongings to my new home in England he guided me - a computer rookie - with the utmost patience through the complicated on-line Application for Transfer of Residence and Customs Form Filing process, just as, more recently, during the current crisis, he has assisted with my application for an Emergency Travel Document. Further demonstrating his willingness to go the extra mile, he has managed to find good homes for possessions reluctantly discarded, helped me dispose of hundreds of books, and undertaken to organise the clearing of my apartment after my departure.
Throughout these two years I have appreciated Francesco as much for his unflagging energy and enthusiasm and unfailing good humor as for his professionalism. I cannot recommend him too highly.
