terrible company!!! unless the 1 advisor you are assigned to,  calls you  back you can't do anything!!!! the main office tells you to call your advisor ! The one you just told them you couldn't reach??? go somewhere else and don't say you weren't warned!!!  0 stars was not available!!!!!

I would give zero stars if it was an option. Stay away. My father purchased a whole life policy from these criminals in the 50s. Over time the interest paid the premiums then began accumulating cash value. NM rarely contacted my parents. I'll make this short. NM encouraged my father to make my mother the owner and beneficiary of the policy with my father being the insured. Tragically my mother passed before my father. So what would be the sensible thing to do? My father who is struggling with Parkinson's and Dementia called and kindly asked if he could get some help straightening this out. In the rudest conversation I've ever heard coming from a company that says they help people really made me angry. An honorable man like my father who has been doing business with this company for 60 years and you tell him he needs to call a lawyer? They even tried to stall and avoid my lawyer. So that are just sitting there earning interest on my father's money. Not too much longer. I will have my day to let them know that they should be ashamed of themselves. Can't wait till it warms up. I'll be spending some time at their office downtown. They will be wishing I called 2 wants after I spend some time with them. Please stay away from NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL!

This review is specifically for Giordano Salvetti. He does not care to remember important investment numbers agreed upon in meetings but does take the time to make a long list of people he wants you to refer him so he can make more money off of you. He will uncomfortably list out each person and then make you feel bad for not agreeing to refer them. He will also debit your account without telling you in advance. He initiated money to be drawn from my account for an IRA then in our next meeting asked me how much I wanted to be taken each month. This had me very concerned as the money had already come out. When I asked him where that money went he said he wasn't sure but would find out. This was extremely unsettling and I requested to cancel all contracts the next day. This was more than a month ago. Gio never even responded to my email request to be refunded but I was sent electronic documents to sign for canceling. Now I find out that I am not able to get my money back until 6 months of the paying into the policy that has already been cancelled. There is an extreme lack of transparency here. I wouldn't recommend Gio or Northwestern to anyone.

Terrible customer service, namely Earl Leyda. He was rude ---no customer service skills and doesn't realize when he is wrong.Also they unfairly charged me a $50 maintenance fee (which is typically charged annually) even though they havent even managed the account for an entire year at this point. Its actually been under a year and I decided to transfer my funds and take my business elsewhere because they lack severely in their integrity and professionalism.They switched my advisor without notice and the new advisor did not even have the decency to reach out and introduce himself or make sure that we are on the same page with things. He did, however, collect his monthly fee.  He is terrible. His name is Nicholas J. Lamanna. When I called and asked why this was, the rep said :it's not best practice,  but it happens". Really? I dont think so. Save yourself from these crooks. I switched to Fidelity and the rates, fees, customer care is so much better.
