Chef Rozanna

Chef Rozanna catered my 230 person wedding reception. The food ended up amazing - all my guests were pleased even my older, more picky/less modern crowd. The process was stressful for me because Rozanna was unorganized due to picking up another job outside of catering (picked up another job because COVID halted her catering business). It took a week to meet up with her for a tasting and then several more weeks and lots of emails to get a quote from her. It was confusing how the total cost was added up but eventually she wrote it all down for me and we got a signed contract in place. Rozanna was able to recommend a day-of-coordinator and help find staff to serve our guests as well as bartenders. She envisioned the entire space and let me know what she wanted us to rent to make the night as smooth as possible. There were a few surprise charges along the way - she later informed me that Unica rentals (the rental company we were using) needed us to pay 50% of the rentals ahead of time which was different from what she had stated earlier and then we had to give her a check for a down payment in case we lost any rental items which she said she would tear up after the wedding if we didn't have any charges. We had to scramble a bit to get these checks to her because we weren't expecting to pay them at the time. After the event, Rozanna lost the check that was to cover any damages (we didn't have any) so we had to go through the bank to cancel the check. Rozanna covered the fee to cancel the check and apologized profusely for losing it. Truthfully with all the confusion on payment and the lost check experience, I would still recommend Rozanna because if you try her food, there's no doubt she is a skilled chef. I don't even like salad, but I would gobble up Rozanna's salad. She knows how to mix flavors together really well and she took on the challenge of cooking for a multi-generational, multi-cultural group of Vietnamese/Chinese Americans and she pleased everyone. The staff she found to serve our guests were professional and polite and she handled all the rental items for us leaving us with little to worry about on the day of. My parents were wanting an "artistic display" of the food and Rozanna delivered on that as well. The food was laid out nicely and professionally. I was stressed leading up to the wedding, but ultimately so pleased with how the food turned out. It is not an easy task to feed such a large crowd, but Rozanna was able to do it at a great price. Chef Rozanna was going to cater our wedding in early August 2020, but due to the current pandemic we've had to post pone the wedding. I can still give my experience working with her. She came out to my house in Castro Valley (from Novato) to serve us food. While I demolished a whole tri tip and a whole chicken that night, the two salads were so good that they were both going to be served at the wedding. In fact the food was so spot on there was no need to tweak anything. The week before we had sat down with another highly rated caterer. Ultimately Rozanna had won us over not only with the food, but her personality. We had a great time with her. Rest assured once this covid subsides and we are able to get married, we'll pickup where we left off and Rozanna is our first choice.

It was a pleasure working with Rozanna leading up to our wedding. (Our actual day was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19, so this review is based on working with Rozanna pre-wedding + our tasting only). She was incredibly accommodating of every request: she put together a completely gluten-free dinner menu because my MIL has celiac's; she added a small vegetarian option for just a few guests who don't eat meat; and she even came up with a creative dessert she hadn't made before based on my partner's favorite flavors. And all of this within budget. I really appreciated her transparency on all the costs, and she had no shortage of tips & tricks for the wedding in general (and especially for the flow of cocktail hour and dinner) that I would never have thought about myself. She's clearly done this many times before and is a pro. For our tasting, she brought everything to our apartment in San Francisco and cooked for us right there in our home-- it was amazing! We tried the beef tri-tip, the chicken tinga, risotto with mushrooms, roasted potatoes with peruvian sauce, mac & cheese, and two salads. Everything was delicious, fresh, and expertly plated-- the beef tri-tip in particular was SO flavorful and delicious and stood out as a favorite. On top of all that, she's a delightful person with a great attitude, full of knowledge and creativity. We're so bummed about our wedding cancellation for many reasons, and missing out on sharing Rozanna's delicious food with our guests is a big one.

Rozanna is stellar and super knowledgeable about her industry. Before I even booked her, she took the time to break down everything in detail to me as far as why things cost wheat they do, and what I could do to save where needed and spend on what's important. Her menu choice was amazing and her professionalism and individualized attention to me was what made me decide to book with her. She will be catering a small church wedding for me soon and I'm excited to tell you all about what an amazing job I'm sure her and her staff are going to do! Thank you Rozanna for an amazing relaxed and easygoing process you made this for me!
