On my first night in San Diego, my relatives and I went to get Indian food, a place they frequented. I had no idea where we were going until we arrived LOL. It's located across of Marketplace Grille in the Piazza Carmel in Del Mar. There's a big parking lot with ample stalls. My group and I ordered the Onion Bhaji as an appetizer, Goat Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Palak Paneer (Saag). We also got a starter of this naan? chips, and the sauces on the side were super bomb. The appetizer was something we didn't expect. It was basically like a blooming onion but with a lot of thin, small pieces to dip and eat. Dipping the fried onions in the naan chip sauces were soooo good rather than it being eaten by itself. The goat curry had an interesting flavor. It was really rich with an almost watery base as a curry rather than a rich creamy base that I was used to with Indian curries. The flavor was delicious but there were actually more bones than meat in the dish which I didn't like as we were mainly paying for the meat. The Tikka Masala was my favorite of the three. It had a creamy base with a nice blend of spices. Can never go wrong with this dish! The Paneer Saag was also good but lacked a bit of flavor. It was like eating a spinach dip but without that bang of flavor.Overall, the portions were huge, and the food was pretty good! It was a bit on the "fancier" side as it was a little pricier. There are a lot of different specialty curries that I've never seen like the Smoked Salmon Tikka Malasa or Chicken Tikka White Wine Curry. Would love to try that next time!
