We work with Jordan West for our infant's physical therapy and he is EXCELLENT! Our son has clubfoot, a knee contracture and torticollis due to low fluid in the womb. The knee contracture was so bad that at one point the doctor told us he might need complicated surgery. Jordan was very intuitive and knew just what was wrong with our son's knee and how to treat it. Our son went from completely avoiding the knee and hardly being able to move it, to being able to almost fully straighten it, bearing weight on it consistently and making unbelievable progress, with no more talk of surgery at all. Jordan is very patient, understanding and kind and our son enjoys working with him, which I think makes a huge difference, especially compared to the PT we got when we went to Rady's, and the added benefit of being in our home environment is priceless. Our son has hit all of his milestones in line with his birthday even though he was 6.5 weeks early, I think in large part due to his physical therapy through Sunny Days. Thanks Jordan and the Sunny Days team!

My son was 2 years old when he was identified to be at risk for an ASD by UCSD Autism Center for Excellence. The experience was emotionally and mentally challenging as can be expected, but unfortunately the ABA services we received from Sunny Days made the entire experience exponentially worse. Our family began telehealth ABA services in August of last year. The sessions were confusing and frustrating for me, and emotionally distressing for my toddler. I repeatedly asked for clarification on what we were doing, the purpose of the activity, and explicitly asked for suggestions to set my son up for success and was either ignored, brushed aside, or the one suggestion that was given was to “just let him cry it out.” I brought up concerns that my son was experiencing frequent and intense meltdowns, struggling with transitions, and clearly experiencing sensory overload across multiple settings. Rather than address any of these issues, we spent the entire hour each session working on matching objects and imitating facial expressions. I asked why these were my son’s goals when he clearly needed more regulation strategies and could not successfully complete the matching/imitation tasks because of his lack of regulation skills. I was not given an answer as to why these were his goals, but as someone with a career in special education I connected the dots as to the purpose of the goal alone. I should not have had to research why my son had the goals he had. It is the job of the BCBA and ABA therapist to explain those goals and to work alongside the family to adjust as dictated by the needs of the child. ABA through Sunny Days increased my son’s distress levels and decreased his ability to regulate and engage in structured tasks and social interactions. He now receives ABA virtually through a different company, and each session we are provided with a clearly outlined agenda that starts with the ABA holding space for us to ask for support with any at home issues BEFORE we even get into any tasks or prompting of my son. As soon as we left Sunny Days, my son was able to be supported by a collaborative and intentional BCBA/ABA provider and has learned multiple self-regulation strategies, meltdowns are significantly less frequent and shorter/less intense. He now thrives when asked to match objects, does so independently and is imitating social cues/facial expressions at the same rate of a same aged typically developing toddler. I just received the statement from our local regional center which shows that Sunny Days, Inc. was twice as expensive as the company we are at now, which in combination with my awful and traumatizing experience leads me to believe this company is anything but child focused/driven. I would never recommend this company, most especially to any family in the beginning stages of the ASD diagnosis/treatment journey.

Fernanda sanchez is very unprofessional when I requested to do less talking and more activities fernanda sanchez got very defensive and started accusing me of not wanting to participate in sessions and everything I shared with fernanda regarding baby fernanda used it against me saying that I didn't want participate. Fernanda was very persistent for me to talk to her supervisor Dora Fuentes I kept telling fernanda no is ok at the end of session fernanda requested again for me to speak to her supervisor Dora Fuentes I said ok little that I knew the Dora Fuentes was not going to help me Dora Fuentes was very defensive too and unprofessional I I mentioned to Dora Fuentes I didn't feel comfortable sharing any information about my child to fernanda and Dora said I'm not going to change fernanda I say ok in session today 06-03-20 Dora Fuentes supervisor shares personal information about my other child with Fernanda while we were on session my other child has nothing to do with session there was no need and unprofessional of supervisor Dora Fuentes to bring my other chil up and shared information about my other child to Fernanda Sanchez. DORA FUENTES WAS VERY AWARE OF HOW UNCOMFORTABLE I FELT SHARING ANYTHING TO FERNANDA SANCHEZ ABOUT THE BABY AFTER FERNANDA GOT DEFENSIVE WHY IS DORA FUENTES HAS NO RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT MY OTHER CHILD PERSONAL INFORMATION TO FERNANDA SANCHEZ I HAD TO SPEAK TO REGIONAL CENTER FOR DORA TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE THERAPIST I DO NOT RECOMMEND SUNNY DAYS EARLY INTERVENTION SESSION Dora Fuentes explained to me that regional center pays early intervention session for therapist just to observe my baby . I dont think so I Google what early intervention session do and you just dont get pay to observe is so sad very unprofessional all this upsetting malfunction situation could of been prevented if Dora Fuentes would be professional enough to do her job and give her therapist fernanda sanchez more training and if Dora Fuentes would really care on helping baby she could just change therapist there was no need for me to bother regional center
