Not too impressed with the skewer hotpot here (which is what most people come for) because the ingredients were small and the soup bases were just ok. But I love the "mao cai" (冒菜) on their pre-set menu, especially the one with the fatty beef (肥牛), so I know for sure that they know flavors. The flavor of their mao cai was so good that we had gone back repeatedly just for that, so definitely give that a try. I just wish I could order those and put them on the boiler and eat them like a hotpot, but unfortunately they don't let you use the stove with items from pre-set menu, otherwise it would've been top-notch experience for us.

I did not know what to expect as I entered Boiling Passion with my platonic friend for a casual Sunday night dinner. We have never had sex or even kissed. Sure, we both, separately, made drunken passes at each other, but the stars have not aligned. The restaurant has a cozy, colorful feel with a flair of steampunk. The tables are wood supported by pipes and wagon wheels. The entrance features a toy bicycle and an ornamental globe. I'd recommend the ambiance for a whimsical mood and that was the mood I am in this Sunday night. I noticed that Asian people dined there. I don't think it's racist to believe that you want to eat Asian food where Asian people eat food. I'm just noticing the evidence for authenticity. There are three steps to the menu, pick your broth, pick your sauce, and pick your meat. I went for the original broth and the original sauce. I'm here to sample to goods. You then go to the refrigerator, where there are skewers of protein and vegetables. This was the part where I felt like a lily-livered American afraid to eat chicken livers. I was too scared to try the cattle throat, goose intestine, or squid whiskers, but I did try the sausage, which likely had all these proteins and more. I did not know what is in the sausage, and that's how I prefer to eat my meat, blissfully unaware of what part of a dead animal I'm putting in my mouth. I also enjoyed spicy beef, lamb, pumpkin, broccoli and Chinese mushrooms. We sat back down and boiled our food while we talked about our careers as aspiring nurse practitioners which can be summarized as follows: we just want to help people but we are also grumpy about it. The broth was spicy, we could not figure out what it was made of but we still give it five stars. The beef was savory and the vegetables are making us stronger. The bill for two was only $33. Our dinner at Boiling Passion but satisfying and reasonably priced, but we did not boil with passion for each other after our dining experience. I'm not calling it false advertising, I'm just saying
