Owner treated me like scum. I told him in a casual way that it's great that he's got a Russian waiter, there was a Mexican one before. It was a compliment. I said that it would be better, if Russian people work in Russian restaurant and Mexican in Mexican... Meaning that it gives the restaurants more authenticity and reality, it becomes "piece of Russia" for Russian one or "piece of Mexico" for Mexican one. But the owner-waiter(man in 50s, beard and glasses) exploded and told me that "who don't respect other nation doesn't respect himself!!!" I was shocked for a minute, but took that as misunderstanding and didn't take it as an offense. After I told him about problems in American system in a casual conversation. We use to discuss them before with no problems and talked about life. This time he exploded again. Used slur. Told me that I shouldn't live here then. I shouldn't live, if I see some problems???! I was shocked. It's normal to see and discuss the problems. I use to come here for years. I liked the owner and the food. Imagine, I was still kind - I even left him a tip after that. I called him later and told him that it's not right to hate people for the expression of an opinion and people have a right to say what they think... Guess what? He threatened me with cops!!! I felt even more humiliated after that. Typical "George Bush" attitude - stubbornness, lack of diplomacy, barking and threats to use force when you disagree with someone... Horrible experience, humiliation and disappointment... I knew the guy for years. Felling very upset, will never come back again. PS. He thinks that he can treat customers the way he wants, because he is the owner... If he was not in the mood for conversations, he could just say that... And he should know, as "proud American" that America is about good service, about respecting the differences and democracy - specifically about tolerance towards the different opinions and views.
