I have been looking for water dishes for my indoor tortoise setup for over 2 years already. My requirements are very particular because the water dishes need to be large enough to completely fit my mid-sized tortoises when they are fully grown, shallow enough so that they can climb in and out, yet not so shallow as to quickly evaporate like in flower pot base drain overflow dishes.
I have decided to go take a look at restaurant supply stores because I planned on installing 240 V receptacles in the garage for power tools and electric vehicle charging and wanted to future-proof it by making sure that they have enough of a current rating to support commercial cooking appliances in the imaginable rare case that I do decide to get them. I never expected to find something that is right for me that is totally unrelated to 240 V power outlets. I am incredibly grateful that East Bay Restaurant Supply has the water dish that I have been looking for so long. Best of all, the huge 14-inch diameter, 2 1/2-inch deep dish is made of aluminium for durability and health (because tortoises have such long lives, so plastic will never be accepted) yet costs only $12.99 before tax! Also, the store is very clean and spacious, one which might expect for a family furniture store rather than a commercial kitchen supply store. The prices on everything else are also very low. Please note that only the left large dish in the photograph is from East Bay. I give them 6 out of 5 stars!

I have passed by this store many dozens of times over the years and wanted to pay a visit to see what they have. Lately, I have been on a website webstaurantstore.com building up a cart of about 30 items, totaling a bit over $300.00. I thought that I'd email my list to East Bay (Sacramento) to see if they can come up with a competitive bid. This would allow me to source my goods locally in a brick and mortar, rather than over the internet. So I went to the EBRS website and it stated that I was intentionally locked out due to my computer operating system needing to be updated from Windows Vista, which works fine on other sites. I'd need to buy another computer in order to do business with them. And that's how the story ends. Due to the insolence of the company, I will never be a customer. Bummer for them. I'll never understand the mindset of folks who refuse to do business with you when you are trying to give them money.
