Dr. Belafsky is an excellent physician! He cared for my throat health for many years at UCD Sacramento. His compassion, knowledge, kindness, and hes non judgmental. I highly recommend him for all that seek an excellent physician and surgeon. I miss him since moving to San Diego, I wish he were part of the UC medical here.

I had no intention of writing a review after my experience with Dr. Belafsky, as I simply wanted to put it behind me and try to forget. However, my conscience kept telling me to be a voice of caution to my fellow humans, and let people know that there are other options.
I had upper esophageal surgery with Dr. Belafsky in February of 2022. It was a fairly new and rare procedure, and although my two office visits prior had not gone well, I had not had need for major medical help before, and simply trusted Dr. Belafsky to know what he was doing. Long story short, the surgery did not go well and was not done properly. I was absolutely dying of misery afterward, and for eight days I attempted multiple times to reach anyone in his office who could help me or tell me what was going on. I had messages go unanswered, or was dismissed with advisement will call you within 48 hours, or sometimes thats the way it goes. I was literally in tears during most of these calls, in terrible discomfort and feeling absolutely helpless.
Eight days after my failed procedure, I finally got someone on the phone who listened to me and said, it sounds as if you really need to speak to the doctor! YES!, I replied. THANK YOU! She said she would get a message to him and have him call me. Later that day, she called back and said she had spoken to him and he said he would call me. I was so thankful and relieved! Then she continued his first availability to call you will be in a month.
I was devastated. Miserable. In tears. Dying for help. And Dr. Belafsky simply dismissed me - after HIS failed procedure had been the cause of such misery!!
At that point I knew I had to cut my losses and move on, because I needed immediate help. I reached out to another ENT doctor who was much more familiar with my condition and the treatment. His office listened to me, agreed that I needed to be seen immediately, and scheduled me for the very next week. That surgeon was able to re-do the procedure, and thank God, give me relief from my extreme misery that had been brought on by my procedure with Belafsky. With this other doctor and his staff, I found kindness, communication, and competence. I might also add, he charged less than TEN PERCENT what Belafsky had charged, and he managed to get it right.
All this is just to say trust your instincts. Are you being listened to? Cared for? Is someone answering the phone when you call and able to answer questions, or are you being put off? If it doesnt feel right, GET A SECOND OPINION. I sure wish I had.

Dr. Belafsky has been amazing with my chronic condition. He takes time to review my files and Dr. notes and always has multiple plans of action. He is consistently on time for my appts and procedures and truly cares about the well being of his patients. Molly McDonald

Compassionate. It's never easy knowing you will never be normal, but he goes the extra mile to explain thoroughly. Takes the needed time with every patient.

I am Reviewing at the request of my husband Victor H Patkowski. Dr Belafsky has been our Doctor since Victor was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Tonsillar cancel Stage 4 in 2013.
Vic continues to see Dr Belafsky on an as needed basis.
Vic is getting weaker every day with multiple pain in muscles, bones, back, and now headaches. He is having equilibrium problems and near fainting episodes.
Dr Belafsky has always had my back along with the soldiers in Nam when I was shot thru the heart, lungs, and liver in Vietnam.
For his support and expertise in caring for me, I will always be eternally grateful ! Vic says, Dr Belafsky always is willing to Think Outside the Box! and give his patients His Very Best!
