In fact it had no name. Upholstery definition was to hold up or holdem which, was explained as a padded seat with fabric. The name upholstery was hard to spell and fit the Manuel labor part. As it became a trade name... Today it's missed spelled and always will be.My great grandma decided to copy the piece which was done previously. Weather it was a couch, love seat, chair or ottoman .Not to mention cushions ...... She was so interested she would teach herself and learn how.......6-months later she was called the upholstery lady.People came from all around to have a chair or piece re-upholstered. My great grandmother became very well know ...... her talents were so amazing. upholstery became a family trade and was passed down 4-generations.I'm proud to be the great granddaughter . It's amazing how I carry the same interest and talent for upholstery. Were proud of our success story.
