Spicy salsa! Friendly service! $1 tacos were wonderful. Alexandra took great care of us. I would definitely eat here again.

Las Brasas Restaurant Review Two months ago my husband and I had a taste for authentic Mexican cuisine. We took a drive to the city of Redlands and stumbled upon Las Brasas, which was nestled in the quaint little downtown area. This area reminds me so much of Castro Street in Mountain View. Anyway we found a pretty good parking spot, which is not always easy for this area. When we walked in right away I loved the décor and the atmosphere. We were greeted within minutes and seated by a somewhat rushed waiter, and given menus. My menu was pretty dirty on the outside as well as the inside, with food smeared on it. This was an immediate turn off! Then I remembered that one of the first signs that I read on the window stated “Family style restaurant, kid friendly” I guess the waiters do not give thought to wiping down there menu's. I also observed a sign stating “Taco Tuesdays”; all tacos were $1.00 until 6pm. My immediate though was, this is great honey let's try one. When the waiter returned he came with water I told him that we would like to try one chicken and one beef taco to start with. He looked over at the clock on the wall, and I said “oh we were seated 10 minutes before 6pm”. He said OK and then I asked him to please replace my menu with a clean one. He seemed bewildered until he looked closely and then nodded and walked away. He appeared to be preoccupied and not attentive to our needs; the restaurant only had customers at 3 tables. Our waiter returned with a clean menu and said he would be right back to take our order. When he returned he sat chips and salsa down on the table, and asked if we were ready to order. My husband ordered the Chili Verde Burrito and I ordered one chicken and one beef enchilada. Both came with refried beans and rice. The chili Verde included a salad. Our food came pretty quickly, and all of a sudden the place started filling up with families who appeared to be regulars. The presentation of our food was fine. The taste was average not really as authentic as I would have liked, but my husband enjoyed his chili Verde burrito. I was extremely happy about that because he is not usually pleased with his order when we dine out. The tacos were forgotten about and when I mentioned that we never received them, the waiter looked over at the clock again and I had to remind him that we walked in 10 minutes before the cut off time. His reaction was, “I will be right back”…So I am assuming that he had to go and ask someone if he could still give us the tacos, that he forgot. Ten minutes later our waiter walks up with the two tacos just as we are finishing up our meal, so we asked for a carry out. When the waiter laid our bill down on the table, we realized that he had over charged us and needed to make an adjustment. When my husband pointed this out he took action to correct the problem. I was not impressed with the customer service or the food and would not return or recommend this restaurant.
