Eat on the patio. Sunday dinner not as interesting as a la carte on other days.

Was introduced to this place by a Groupon deal. The atmosphere is great. The place is very tiny indoors and outdoors but my wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Restaurant is literally right next door to the Ice House Comedy club in Pasadena. The food is expensive and you get very small portions. The food was good, but didn't excite us at all in terms of wanting to return. A few things soured our experience. 1) They didn't have any beer. The had a list of 3 foreign beers that seemed interesting, but they said they didn't have any...hmm. 2) We ordered 2 glasses of wine instead and our wine was brought to us already in the glass. It wasn't poured out in front of us with the bottle, which would have been nice to see since it was our first time trying this wine. Who knows if they gave us wine out of a box...since they didn't give us the courtesy of pouring in front of us. 3) When we got our bill, it included a $50 wine bottle charge from another table that doubled our bill. We wanted to like the place, but overall decided we probably wouldn't be going back.

We previously have had a nice time here, dining al fresco, enjoying the good menu, and enjoyed attentive service. However, most recently, we came in for flights and apertifs prior to the theater; we were unfortunately seated inside the cramped bar area. We felt uncomfortable because our "neighbors" were just too close. They seemed to be nice people, but my wife and I had planned to talk to one another rather than eavesdrop, and we were unable to converse privately. The maitre'd was unable to re-seat us: so we left disappointed. Noir needs more space!

With Claud Beltran in the kitchen and Mike Farwell picking out the wines it just can't miss. Time to enjoy Pasadena.
