I would also highly recommend Beth Berstein. For all the reasons above and also because she is very flexible with her scheduling. Additionally, she has an amazing capacity to remember anything you've told her (even stuff you don't remember) without ever taking notes. It's pretty astonishing, actually. She extremely skilled as a therapist.

In the East Bay's vast, overpopulated sea of therapists, I'd recommend Beth Bernstein. She's a third of psyche, Oakland's collective of feminist psychotherapists (who advertise in zines like Bitch and LiP).  Beth is smart, compassionate, and direct, and I know she does a lot of work with former dieters who still have some weirdness around eating or their bodies, and she sees a bunch of Cal students. She might be a good fit if you have any kind of lifestyle that might be viewed as "alternative" (and subsequently misunderstood or pathologized) by a super-traditional therapist. I think psyche also sees about half the feminist sex workers in the SF Bay Area. Given the jaw-dropping rates some therapists are charging, her rates are also very reasonable, and she takes some insurance.
