Swope Medical Group

I too was "balanced billed" or "surprise billed" by swope. All attempts to getht hem to obey the law in California have been met with broken English "err your insurance didn't pay what we want". 10 months later of house on the phone, ZERO progress. I have to file a claim with the California Insurance commissioner according to my health insurance. The manager that deals with swope billingsaid, in so many words, the practice of ballance billing when we no it is illegal, has been raised to their legal department, and that they are aware of their process. I'm other words, they know they are trying to take advantage of people's lack of knowledge on the subject, but they can still attempt this behavior until they receive paperwork in a specific format that says this particular case is balance billing. They know it is, and know it is illegal, and the problem is exacerbated when your insurance is headquartered out of state. I'm that case, your insurance cannot directly tell them to pound sand, and swope will not give up until your insurance does so.

I Give Dr. Carl Alsup 5 stars... however I received "Suprise Billing" from the medical group he belongs to "Swope Medical Group Inc." . If you go to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for emergency services be aware that the Dr's working there do not have to be transparent with respect to what insurance they accept. Swope Medical Group is currently in a debate over reimbursement rates with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and is not currently accepting insurance from the largest provider in the state of CA yet providing emergency services at a hospital located CA. Please be cautious and aware!
